Rotary Brush Strainers

FEATURES

The rotary strainer is considered a safety filter as it is used to remove larger solids from the processing fluid before the centrifugal clarification step begins. The strainer consists of a set of moving rotary brushes in a cylindrical body and a filtering basket where accumulated solids are collected and removed.

The separated solids are periodically and automatically conveyed to the outlet through a pneumatic valve fitted on the bottom of the strainer and controlled by a control panel.

Two pressure sensors control inlet, outlet and differential pressures.

A. Product inlet
B. Product outlet
C. Solids discharge

1. Strainer upper part
2. Strainer body
3. Strainer bottom part
4. Filtering basket
5. Ratio-motor
6. Vertical shaft with brushes
7. Valve for solids discharge
8. Pressure transmitter
9. Control panel
10. Frame

The hydrocyclone is used to remove heavy, abrasive particles from the product before entering the centrifugal clarifiers in order to protect the clarifier from erosion.

It is typically installed after a rotary brush strainer in the grape juice clarification process. The separation of heavy particles is due to the centrifugal force generated by the vortex of the liquid inside the hydrocyclone body.

The heavy particles run down along the body conical wall and are collected at the bottom into a small holding tank. The liquid flows upwards in the center and out from the top. The separated solids are periodically and automatically discharged from the hold tank by a pneumatic valve controlled by a control panel.
