As World Refugee Day Approaches, SPX FLOW Employees Continue Global Ukrainian Support Efforts
Charlotte, N.C., June 17, 2022 - SPX FLOW, Inc., a leading provider of process solutions for the Industrial and Nutrition & Health markets, recognizes its compassionate team members for helping Ukrainian Refugees.
Each June 20, the globe comes together to honor World Refugee Day. The United Nations General Assembly launched the holiday in 2000, and since then, the worldwide community has spent the day focused on ways to improve the lives of refugees.
"We pride ourselves on building, nourishing and serving the world," said SPX FLOW Chief Financial Officer Jaime Easley. "This remains true for us every day, but especially during times of war and displacement."
With SPX FLOW operations in Bydgoszcz, Poland, team members are personalizing their aid to Ukrainian refugees by opening their homes for shelter, helping them secure employment and even hand-delivering supplies within Ukraine to those unable to leave the country.
"It was tough, but finally, we found a real estate agency willing to help refugees find accommodations," said an SPX FLOW team member. "Eleven days after their arrival, we drove the refugees to their 'new home' about 200kms from ours — with a job secured, allowing them to pay rent on a small flat and support their family."
The global response from employees, often referred to as "solution makers," is even greater. The outpouring of support includes:
- Brno, Czech Republic: Collected toiletries, clothing and toys for tailored drop-off at the official Brno Collection Point, in addition to donating money to the Help for Ukraine relief agency.
- Dagenham, United Kingdom: Clothing and toys collected for Ukrainian families re-homed close to our SPX FLOW site
- Cheadle, United Kingdom: Employee-sponsored walk to raise money for Ukrainian refugees and essential aid
- Norderstedt, Germany: Team members helped renovate two apartments to house Ukrainian refugees
- Rochester, New York, United States: U.S. mixer business unit organized an internal fundraiser through Save the Children to receive company-matched funding
"Alongside our corporate donation, it is empowering to see our solution makers around the world donating their personal resources and time to make a hands-on difference in the lives of numerous Ukrainian families," added Easley. "Our hope is the collective contributions will be of great assistance as this war continues and we continue to look for ways to support Ukrainian refugees and their families."
