Integration of New Bran+Luebbe Actuator Leads to a 124% Performance Boost

Charlotte, N.C., November 26, 2024 – ITT Flow Technologies’s Bran+Luebbe brand helped enhance performance by more than 120% at a major German chemical processing company. Implementing the newly released ARIS ExTensor control actuator on their processing line helped regulate pump flow through precise metering in under one second while ensuring ATEX compliance.

This innovative solution helped to preserve this customer’s original system, saving time and money. A complement to the NOVADOS pump series, the ARIS ExTensor supports double diaphragm, metering, process and injection pumps across the industrial sector.

"This launch came at the perfect time, just when this customer needed a critical solution most," says Nina Sun, ITT Flow Technologies VP of Product Management, Pump Solutions. "The fact that a quick upgrade was possible versus a costly full replacement, speaks to the durability of this pump in operation for 60 years, and now, for many more years to come.”

Here's how they did it:

Challenge

A critical NOVADOS six-head diaphragm pump, essential to the customer’s polymer Research & Development plant, required significant performance upgrades. Supply chain delays ruled out the opportunity to install a new pump, and the existing system needed custom modifications to meet ATEX electrical compliance. Faced with a strict 10-day deadline, Bran+Luebbe team members were tasked with delivering a solution that would enhance the pump’s capabilities while ensuring minimal disruption to existing operations.

Solution

The Bran+Luebbe team noticed the existing NOVADOS six-head diaphragm system could still efficiently operate with optimized pump heads and the help of multiple control actuators. Fortunately, the team had recently added the ARIS ExTensor offering to its portfolio. After installing the actuator, the pump heads were also upgraded to 12mm and 16mm sizes for higher yield resulting in performance improvements of 124% and 78%, respectively.

The project was completed in just seven days—three days ahead of schedule. The revamp was completed on-site in the customer’s workshop, as the team adapted to solve the complex challenge with speed and precision.
