COMMISSIONING

To guard against improper installation and startup, a certified SPX Flow Service Technician supervises jobsite contractors to ensure that proper installation procedures are followed, and the unit is configured properly for start-up. The extensive level of customization offered by SPX Flow results in a range of specialized measurements that may require the role of a mixer technician to verify.

Proper installation and startup are vital to the long-term performance and life of your SPX FLOW mixing equipment. Improper installation is the leading cause for early mixer life-cycle expenses, downtime, and repair. SPX FLOW offers a full set of installation and startup procedures to promote optimal industrial performance and cohesion.

INSTALLATION VERIFICATION

A certified SPX Flow Service Technician will audit the shipment received from the SPX FLOW factory or service center to ensure all components are present and accounted for. Arrangements will be made with the factory or service center to secure any missing components. In addition to that the technician will assess the installation to make sure it has been done completely before authorizing equipment startup. The installation verification process entails:

• Verification of proper equipment storage & handling.
• Proper mounting orientation for blades.
• Shaft, blade & hold down hardware set to proper torque values.
• Correct type/grade of oil is installed into gearboxes.
• Verification of alignment of high-speed couplings.
• Installation of breather or desiccant breather.
• Comparison of field installation against general arrangement drawing.
• Steady bearing alignment (if applicable).
• Proper installation and setup of mechanical seals (if applicable).
• Complete a comprehensive checklist to confirm that all equipment specifications are met, and that all recommended installation steps are completed.

STARTUP

The role of a certified SPX Flow Service Technician in commissioning extends further than installation verification. Ensuring a productive, and effective startup is critical to meeting the expected date of operation. The startup process entails:

• Provide hands–on or supervisory assistance in configuring the equipment for start-up.
• Check power at the equipment.
• Check noise, vibration, and temperature levels.
• Measure shaft run-out to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Visually inspect the equipment for any abnormalities that could jeopardize optimal equipment performance.
• Complete a comprehensive checklist to confirm that all equipment specifications are met, and that all recommended start-up procedures are completed.

The certified commissioning process is a major contributor to the reduction of factory downtime, production losses, back-up parts inventory, annual operating expenses, and the cost of ownership. ONSITE CONSULTING & REPAIR

A certified SPX Flow service technician will visit your facility and evaluate your mixing equipment. If repairs are necessary and can be made onsite, our technicians will carry these out. (When repairing your mixing solution onsite is not an option, the equipment can often be sent back to one of our service centers.) The technicians can also provide suggestions on how to better maintain the equipment, what spares to keep on hand and how to best approach any repair work.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

A certified SPX Flow service technician will visit your facility and perform diagnostic services. These services include a full report that gives you a snapshot of the health of your fleet as well as a multipage assessment for each piece of equipment. The scope of this work can be tailored to ensure peak performance for your most critical assets.

TURNKEY SERVICES

SPX Flow offers a range of removal and installation services for our mixing equipment and select competitor equipment. TRAINING

Comprehensive training so your team learns how to properly operate, maintain, and care for equipment. Training topics include repair and maintenance on mechanical seals, gearboxes, side entry mixers, steady bearings, couplings, agitator shafts, impellers, and more. SPX Flow also offers demonstration units for many of our core products which can be delivered to your facility for the purpose of training as to not interrupt the operation of your equipment. These trainings can be conducted in a classroom setting, workshop setting or in your plant at the equipment where it is installed.
