This system minimizes product loss and enhances cleaning-in-place (CIP) processes, leading to improved production efficiency and sustainability. The APV Ultra Clean Pigging System adheres to the world’s highest hygienic standards with CE marked, FDA, and EU food contact certified materials. The system can be fitted or retrofitted to any existing system for maximum flexibility. Theory of Operation

The APV Ultra Clean Pigging System uses a projectile, commonly called a “pig” or “scraper,” made of silicone or EPDM rubber that pushes the product through the pipe. Instead of using water to clean the product from pipes at the end of a production run, the pig clears all product remnants pushed by water, compressed air or inert gas. This saves valuable product from being flushed away while also reducing water usage as there is no direct contact of product with water. There is always a scraper between water and product giving a clean-cut during change overs.

  1. Pre-Production Setup: The process line is cleaned and dried.
  2. Product Priming: Product is initially primed from the valve manifold through the launching station to the receiving station.
  3. Production Cycle: Continuous production of fresh and fermented products.
  4. End of Production: Sterile air, inert gas or water flushes through the pipeline, releasing the pig to clear the line of all the product.
  5. Product Recovery: Most of the product is recovered minimizing lost revenue.
  6. Cleaning-in-Place (CIP): The pig sits in the receiving station while cleaning-in-place CIP is performed. Because there is less product in the pipes, CIP is quicker and minimizes chemical usage and losses. After CIP, the pig is sent back to the launching station using compressed air instead of water. This results in a clean, empty pipe ready for the next production run, further reducing losses.

Our pigging systems are identified by an order code and a serial number. The order code is constructed according to selected options and follows this pattern:

The order code, along with the serial number and year of fabrication, is engraved on the launching station body. Only the serial number is engraved on the receiving station and draining T bodies.
