Earth Day, Every Day

We take concrete steps to reduce energy consumption and water use, embrace circular economy models, and enhance recycling efforts, placing us at the forefront of sustainable manufacturing. Our mission goes beyond just meeting sustainability standards — we aim to set new ones. We work closely with our customers to help them reach their own sustainability goals, while continually challenging ourselves to go further.

We support customers in achieving their sustainability goals, while continuously striving to exceed our own. Explore our initiatives, learn about our sustainable products, and discover how SPX FLOW is making Earth Day, Every Day, a reality.

A Winning Culture

Our APV Aseptic Rapid Recovery System won "Sustainable Product Award" at the 2024 SEAL Business Sustainability Awards for its ability to dramatically reduce product waste, water usage, and cleaning time, achieving up to an 87% improvement in product savings. The recognition underscores a commitment to developing solutions that drive environmental stewardship while safeguarding consumer health. In 2023, the Charlotte HQ office cafeteria diverted 94,000 pounds of food waste from landfills, winning Business Intelligence Group’s, “Sustainability Initiative of the Year.” Since its launch in 2019, the program’s transitioned residual food into nutrient-rich compost used by local North Carolina farmers.

Energy

We take actionable steps to minimize our carbon footprint, from advanced recycling programs that reduce waste to initiatives that promote energy efficiency and resource conservation. Powered by renewable energy sources and supported by robust recycling programs, we strive to make a genuine impact. We focus on tangible, measurable goals, such as reducing energy consumption by 3% each year, reflecting our dedication to continuous improvement in sustainability. This is done through heating optimization across sites, LED lighting prioritization and advancing heat transfer solutions to conserve in process, i.e. heat exchangers (HEX). These efforts are part of our broader mission to drive positive environmental change while supporting our customers and communities.

Waste

Our commitment to waste reduction is reflected in our comprehensive recycling initiatives, which target both our internal operations and the innovative solutions we offer to our customers. We aim to increase our recycling efforts by 3% year over year as well. By minimizing waste in production, we actively reduce our environmental footprint while also helping our customers optimize their own sustainability practices. Through smarter waste management, reuse, and recycling strategies, we’re saving around the world, for both and the environment and sustainable growth.

Water

We understand that water is a precious resource, and we’re dedicated to minimizing its use across all aspects of our business. This commitment is evident in the solutions we design, manufacture, and service, which are specifically engineered to help our customers reduce their water consumption without compromising performance. In 2023, our operational advancements saved over six million gallons of water, demonstrating our proactive approach to resource management and our ongoing effort to promote a more sustainable future for the communities and industries we serve.

Emissions

We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint by leveraging innovative approaches that minimize the need for on-site visits, transportation and wasted energy that transfer into CO2 emissions. Operational upgrades like new heating and sensor systems have been the primary ways in which we’re cutting back. Using the market-based method, we produced 609 fewer metric tons in CO2 emissions in 2023 than in 2022 across our operations.

Designed with Sustainability

Certain innovations are different. They’re special in their own unique, green way—setting themselves apart from other solutions. They’re not only driving efficiency and reducing operational impact but also reinforce a new dedication to sustainable manufacturing, benefiting both our customers and the planet.

Sustainable Industries

  • Electric Vehicles: SPX FLOW pumps, mixers, spray dryers and homogenizers that go into lithium batteries support EV manufacturing, contributing to a more sustainable driving future.
  • Sustainable Fish Farming: Our plate heat exchangers regulate water temperature for operations of all scales, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for fish harvesting.
  • Horticulture: By enhancing irrigation efficiency, our solutions help horticulturists conserve water and reduce costs, contributing to sustainable farming practices.
  • Wind Farms: Our utility pumps support a growing number of offshore wind projects with accurate documentation and testing to help reduce reliance on imported fuels.

Giving Back

When we invest in causes that matter, we’re not just helping others—we’re also reinforcing our commitment to building a stronger, more sustainable business. Our global team of solution makers bring diverse perspectives and a shared passion for positive change, allowing us to extend our impact far beyond our own operations. From supporting local communities and advancing education initiatives to championing environmental conservation and promoting equitable access to resources, we strive to make a difference in every region where we operate.

Erpe-Mere Facility Marks 1,000 Days with Zero Accidents

Safety and sustainability are deeply interconnected, forming the foundation of operational excellence. A safe working environment minimizes disruptions, reduces waste from accidents, and supports the well-being of our workforce—ensuring that our employees can continue to innovate and produce high-quality products without setbacks from injuries or accidents. Every incident avoided means fewer resources are spent on damage control, medical care, and downtime, which translates into a lower carbon footprint and more efficient use of materials. This milestone, along with a 48% reduction in our incident rate since 2022, highlights our commitment to safety.
